Data support services for capital market research.
The Capital Market Research Institute (CMRI), under the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), prioritizes promoting and supporting research related to the sustainable development of the Thai capital market, particularly in the area of data services. This aims to enhance the capacity of researchers and educational institutions in producing policy and academic knowledge.

Databases supported by CMRI.
CMRI provides a comprehensive, global database of financial, capital market, and investment data to support in-depth research in a variety of dimensions, including:

S&P Capital IQ
A global financial database and corporate intelligence platform covering listed companies worldwide, including financial statements, corporate events, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, and industry-level indicators.

Morningstar Direct
A database covering mutual funds, ETFs, and equities, equipped with tools for analyzing investment styles and comparative performance.

Pitchbook
A comprehensive and continuously updated global data source on private equity, venture capital, the startup ecosystem, and investment deals.

Zocial Eye by Wisesight
A social media analytics data source that aggregates and processes social media data to monitor public opinion trends and analyze consumer sentiment on economic issues, investment, and capital markets.
Researchers can utilize the service in various forms.
- The CMRI team will prepare the data according to the specified research topic.
- Alternatively, you can access the database in person at the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) building.

Eligibility requirements for service access.
Due to licensing restrictions from data providers, only individuals with the status of
Research Associate or researchers supported by CMRI are allowed to access the CMRI database.
Applicants for Research Associate must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

Applicants for Research Associate must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

Researchers affiliated with organizations in Thailand (regardless of nationality), or Thai researchers affiliated with overseas institutions, who intend to conduct capital market research for non-commercial purposes

Doctoral students with dissertation topics related to capital markets
3
Master’s students with thesis topics related to capital markets who have passed their proposal examination
4
Undergraduate students with final projects related to capital markets who have passed their proposal examination
Conditions for approved applicants
Individuals approved as Research Associates must agree to comply with the following conditions: 1
Submit at least one research output to CMRI within two years from the approval date (Doctoral students may request an extension if necessary)
2
Submit a research proposal to allow CMRI to appropriately consider and support data provision
3
Present research findings or related information upon CMRI’s request and submit a full report for publication
Participation steps
1. Apply to become a Research Associate at: CMRI Data Support Request Form
2. Upon contact, submit the application form along with your research topic and proposal via email
3. Once approved, you will receive initial guidance and be able to begin using the databases in accordance with CMRI regulations

CMRI Data Service: The Series
Currently, faculty members from various educational institutions are continuously interested in and using the Capital Market Research Institute (CMRI) database. CMRI shares stories and user experiences from faculty members through its Facebook page, CMDF, in a series of content titled “CMRI Data Service: The Series,” to convey ideas, methods, and inspiration from using the in-depth database to develop capital market research.
