Kanis Saengchote is an associate professor at the Department of Banking and Finance, Chulalongkorn Business School. He is also an advisor to the Stock Exchange of Thailand on entrepreneurial and professional knowledge development and a regular contributor to research initiatives by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Stock Exchange of Thailand and Puey Ungphakorn Institute for Economic Research.
His research focuses on empirical investigations of microdata from the perspectives of economics and finance with current interest in decentralized finance (DeFi), factor investing and consumer finance. His research has been published in international journals such as Finance Research Letters, Emerging Markets Review, and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal. His book “Money: Past, Present and Future” (published in Thai) explores the developments of money, credit and financial system throughout history and shines light on the potentials ramifications of permissionless blockchain and digital assets on the future of finance.
Kanis received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from London School of Economics and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, Chulalongkorn University. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
His research focuses on empirical investigations of microdata from the perspectives of economics and finance. The current fields of interest are Decentralized finance (DeFi), Factor investing, Real estate finance, Consumer finance, IPOs and SPACs .
